Recovery phrase
The recovery phrase (24 words for a new wallet) is the key to the money. With it the wallet can be restored on any phone or computer, and anyone else who has it can take the EPIC.
- Write the words on paper, in this order, and keep the paper somewhere safe and offline.
- Never keep them as a photo, screenshot or file. Never type them into a website or a chat.
- Nobody from Epic Cash or BT LABS will ever ask for them.

The app never sends the words anywhere. Better not to copy them: if you do, the wallet clears the clipboard after a short while, and when the wallet locks or closes.
The phrase is not the password

Forgotten password or PIN
- Desktop: restore the wallet from its recovery phrase and choose a new password.
- Phone: Forgot PIN? on the unlock screen deletes the wallet from the phone; then restore it from its recovery phrase with a new PIN.
Without the phrase, a wallet whose password or PIN is lost cannot be opened again.
